Magic In A Bottle - Intermediate Level

The painting is penciled on 12x18 Mi-Teintes Burgundy paper. STUDENT SUPPLIES THEIR OWN PAPER. This project can possibly be done on other colors of Mi-Teintes paper if the student wishes a different color background. Talk with Janelle about alternate color choices. Pictured are Burgundy and Sky Blue.

(Mi-Teintes also comes in a board form, DO NOT use this! It has a waffle weave texture and the glass will not be smooth.)

The scroll mat is a unique surface that Janelle discovered in her travels.

The design is penciled with Lyra Polycolor & Faber-Castell colored pencils. The background shading is applied with Prismacolor NuPastels. Supplies are listed below for your ordering convenience.

(A tutorial is the color picture, drawing and written lesson with multiple color step-by-steps.) The step-by-step pictures show the project done on Burgundy Mi-Teintes. The project on Sky Blue is not provided.

Janelle adhered the Mi-Teintes paper to a 12x18 box panel prior to penciling. Mi-Teintes paper is susceptible to bending, and adhering ahead of penciling keeps the paper from becoming crumpled.

Janelle now recommends using a Uni-Ball pen when transferring the design to paper. It works better than the Verithin Orange. The drawing can be applied at the beginning of the class.
