Janelle Johnson

Janelle Johnson is part of the late 1970s United States art movement that created the explosion of decorative painting.

Janelle is highly trained in the style of classical decorative art through the school of Kingslan & Gibilisco, located in Omaha. She is self-taught in the colored pencil and pastel mediums.

While living in rural Kansas, Janelle’s representational work focused on floral, still life, and wildlife.  Upon moving to Florida, her strong foundation in color theory and design guides her current work in portraiture.

For two decades Janelle developed her multi-media style with an emphasis on colored pencil.

Janelle retired from travel teaching and publishing in 2024 to pursue her study of portraiture and to travel the US with her husband of almost 50 years, Jeff.

Janelle lives life with a point on the pencil!
