Hello Colored Pencil Artist:
It’s been a while since I sent a Study Packet! Since many of you have asked what’s going on – I just overbooked myself in 2010; 14 seminars and 4 trade shows – what was I thinking?! We started RV traveling June 2010 and didn’t stop until December 2010. What an adventure! 2010 was a great year; we traveled and taught seminars and attended trade shows from Kansas to Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Washington, Canadian Rockies, Nebraska, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Florida, Oklahoma and then back to Florida. Now it’s home to Kansas for the winter!
I’m back on track with a basic beginner project that will get you off to a good start this year!
Join me for another in the series of:

Hello Colored Pencil Artist:
What does the color Violet, commonly known as Purple, mean to you? In ancient times it was the color of fabric that was reserved for royals…I’m so glad those days are long gone! Don’t you love to wear violet! I also like to use touches of violet in almost everything that I pencil so this basic beginner project was fun to design.

Hello Colored Pencil Artists: I’m trying a different format to send the monthly free packet. For those who have difficulty in downloading a PDF, this may solve the problem! You’ll be able to view it on the blog and print as needed. Plus, you can direct your students and fellow colored pencil artists to the blog.
This month’s study is about the color Orange. Color affects moods and orange is often used to create a feeling of happiness – it also represents the color of fall; which is upon us, where did the summer go?

The project is based on a photo by Heidi Conover, Okinawa. Thank you Heidi for permission to do a colored pencil project from your photography! A big thank you to Sharon Burkenbine, WA for sending me her daughter’s beautiful photo!
