Join me on an exciting and fulfilling adventure in 2024 live and online through the wonders of a Zoom classroom!

Learn the form and planes of the face, value changes to create shape, and flesh tones. Drawing experience is not required. The class is limited to 8 students, so you receive lots of personal attention! It still amazes me how with the use of a computer, I can instruct you in the privacy and comfort of your own home.

We'll start with selecting a photo of the person that you'd like to capture a likeness of, based on your own photo. We'll talk about the possibilities and what you'd like to accomplish in the portrait. You'll be provided with two prints, one will be for the drawing and the other for reference during class. If you have the photo on an iPad, tablet, or even your phone - have it available for close up detail.

For your first portrait, I recommend a youthful smiling face, a lot of teeth showing takes some time, but I'm up for the challenge if you are! Youth is a good place to start because the character lines and blemishes have not yet developed. A small amount of clothing, such as a collar or neckline trim is acceptable.

We'll use a combination of Faber-Castell Polychromos and/or Caran d'Ache Luminance colored pencils and a few Carb Othello pastel pencils. If a background is needed, I recommend using Prismacolor NuPastels. The surface is 11"x14" Crescent Moorman Suede Mat Board. The color of the suede will be based on the skin tones of your portrait. The mat board is available through Janelle, or you can supply your own.

 Colored pencils, pastels, sharpeners, etc. are not supplied but can be ordered through Dick Blick, or your favorite local art supply store. A list of possible pencils will be discussed based on the skin tones, eye color, hair, clothing, etc.

The $125 class fee and the suede board, plus postage, will be invoiced through PayPal. You can pay through PayPal with a credit card, if you don't have a PayPal account.

The class fee is non-refundable.
